Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I hope I am understanding their schedule correctly. .....Should they be doing battlestations and their capping ceremony *(OPSEC). If so that will make for a memorable 20th birthday for my Son.
*(Battlestations is considered ship movement at the RTC)

Angelina--here is the page to RSVP for Sarge's meet & greet. http://navyformoms.com/events/pir-04-18-14-sarge-s-meet-and-greet?x... It sounds like we'll get alot of good information that night & they show videos, have great food, etc. Also, I did purchase the coin for my son. It is a "Challenge Coin" and you can get the one that corresponds to your Sailor's Ship at RTC. Spencer's is the Marvin Shields. It was $10 and with the blue case another $10. I think it will be something he'll show his children & grandchildren. :) The history of the coins can be found under diannep's ^^^Battlestations Their Final Test!^^^Discussion forum link found on this page. Click on Power point by Craig at the bottom of that page & then click on the ship that your sailor recruit is currently on and you will find the history of the "Challenge Coin".

Good morning to all! Happy Friday! Congratulations to all of the new Sailors graduating today and to their families! My heart is happy for all of them.

I know. It is scary how much information they have had to take in over the last month. I guess that's why there is an age cap to enlist...my brain and my body would be fried.

That video certainly was a tear jerker! Just so proud of these kids...it all comes together and they have all worked so hard these past weeks. 2 MORE FRIDAYS! Unbelievable...my goodness, I am so emotional now that it is getting so close! Have a great day everyone!
