OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hello Everyone~~

"I in them and You in Me.  May they be brought

to complete unity to let the world know that You

sent Me and have loved them even as You

What a great post, Leach!  Very encouraging to all!

Not sure who will call this afternoon.  It is possible that 147/148/923 will all call, since up to 4 divisions can go per BattleStations, but it is also possible that just a set of brother divisions went through....or....just the 900 division.  We will know later this afternoon!

To all of you waiting for your calls....I know the feeling! Hang in there and when you get it...do your happy dance!!! You will be smiling for the rest of the day!

I received my beautiful ribbons from Lala yesterday!! Thank you so much Lala...We will wear them with pride.

Also received the Challenge Coin from Craig...amazing! Thank you so much Craig!

I started working on my poster for the hotel door and the emotions and excitement are kicking in. It seems like it has been longer than 8 weeks since my Sailor left and now we are just days away!

The song "Happy" by Pharrell Williams just plays over and over in my head and fills my sould with a great joy! Everytime I'd hear this song during the weeks of BC, it was like a sign from God telling me things were going to be OK.

NO words can describe how much pride I have for my daughter and how happy I am for her accomplishment. I admire all of your children and loved ones for stepping up to serve. I wish them all well and smooth sails as they continue their Navy journey.

We have all become part of the Navy family. What an honor!

Spencer'smom,

My Sailor daughter did not receive her actual, real first duty station orders till she was about 3 - 4 weeks from graduating from A school.  We kept on hoping it would change, but it didn't (we wanted her in San Diego and she ended up in Norfolk.)
