N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Oh, it's snowing in GL again! I just love this weather widget thing!

Josh'smom, I know how you feel, too. My SR is my only son. He moved back in with me a little over a year ago to get ready to enlist. I was an empty-nester and then I wasn't and now I am again. Of course, this time it's harder because he's so far away. I wonder what they would say if they knew how we are so totally messed up with them being gone?  LOL It's taken me almost 3 weeks to just be able to concentrate at work again!!

TJCsMom - I am so right there with you. Funny I didn't act like this when he went off to college. The "box" is still in my kitchen floor so I can see it every day. I opened it but left it right there. I don't go in his room much. Working up to finishing packing up a few of his things. I will as PIR gets closer. He's 21 and I feel like I did when he went off to camp for the first time. He's my only child and we did so much together. Sure miss him.

Oh Lord! I can assure I'm not used to freaky late snows!! A hurricane, yes! A drought, no problem. But, snow? NO! And I'm whiney when it's 45 or lower here! This might be a rough trip!!! LOL

TJCsMom Yep I am happy that I have vacation plans for awhile :) And lucky for me both of the boys will be on the East Coast while in A/C schools so all I have to do is go to NC then SC then loop through Jack Daniels country for some refreshments and up to the frozen tundra of Wisconsin :)

Josh's Mom...as long as it's above zero here it's considered summer :) lol but April can get tricky so also pack umbrellas! One year we even had a major snow storm in May so don't rule snow out in April either!! Just warning everyone who isn't used to freaky late snows.

Ya'll wanna know what I was thinking today? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway! :)

I remember before my son left for BC, thinking of all things I was going to do without having to worry about being here to make sure he had supper, or just being here for him. I thought I was going to have all this freedom and I thought it was going to be so great! HA! Joke's on me!! I've been coming straight home from work everyday to check the mailbox. I've had my cell phone glued to me even more so than when he was out with friends at night. I'm reading on this damn computer or my iPad ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! I went to lunch with friends today and all I could talk about was BC, PIR and the Navy! LOL My friends laughed and reminded me of all the things I said I was going to do. Who knew I would miss that boy so much!? But, if I had the chance to change things, I don't think I would. To hear his voice on Saturday, how happy he sounded and how proud he was of what he is doing...nope, I wouldn't change it!

Ok, that is all! :)

Debi - at least you get a couple of months break before you have to endure this torture again!! :) Don't you just love that your next few year's of vacations are already planned out?? LOL

Ty's Mom and AndrewsB/Mom - My daughter will also have a birthday will at PIR hers is 4/17. I really hope she is not doing BS that day. Would not make for a fun B-day. I also had my son ship out on my birthday in 2011. That was hard.

ellen0502- thanks for the note on the daiy dukes, I'll unpack mine, lol. Actually I don't think they make them big enough for my rear end.
Debi - I plan on wearing what I would normally wear to work, black slacks and a nice sweater or blouse. I'm from the south so my coat may never come off while I'm in IL.

Debi, There is no dress code at PIR and I am glad that you won't be wearing a tube top and daisy dukes, although I am sure that has happened. LOL People wear all kinds of things to PIR, just remember you SAILOR will be in his dress blues (I think they change to whites on May 1 in GL). You can wear nice jeans and a sweater, or a dress if you would like to.

Remember it may still be cold, probably windy, and you will be climbing and sitting on bleachers. After PIR you will probably walk to the NEX with your SAILOR and it is not just across the street, it is all the way around an open field area. It is also a walk from the parking garage to the drill hall, so no stiletto healed shoes.

Dress nice, comfortable and warm, and be prepared to walk.
