N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

momofsix:  That is their training week/day count.  Or should be.  They only do training for 6 weeks.  Prior to that are the processing days (the number varies from SR to SR) and after BattleStations (final test), they usually have some down days that aren't counted as training days.

Training Days are counted 1-5.  They can start them on any weekday....but that day will always be "day 1" for them....unless there is a holiday that backs them up a day.  They don't train on weekends or holidays.  Those are "hold" days.  So....say your SR is on 2-1 (week 2, day 1) on a Friday, then Monday would be 2-2.

We tell you all to write and ask your SR to date the next letter and put what training week/day he/she is on that day.  Then you can put it on your calendar and keep up with it!

AndrewB/mom, You can send them bday cards BUT if they have to open them in front of the RDC then there might be a birthday "gift" from the RDC as in extra PT or some other way to make their bc birthday memorable. My SR said that he got through the day without the RDC finding out so he was happy.

can someone tell me -- what does TG stand for?

Comment by mynavygirl2 on March 12, 2013 at 12:51pm

morning everyone...well, it's still in the AM here!!! Debi, that is something. I know how hard it is when they both leave! My SR has a twin brother also, but he's not in the service. Instead he just decided to move out and be on his own now!! He's only a 25 min drive away and comes home every few days (for laundry), but that initial day that he left was hard on me. Isn't it funny, when they're 14-15 we can't wait for them to get out, on their own, then after they are really out it's just different!
AndrewB/Mom, happy birthday to your SR. I thought you could send them cards. Anything that fits in a "letter" envelope.....just no goodies!

Debi, you always make me laugh out loud!! :) I can't blame you, though. I've said it before and I'll say it again....I just can't imagine what you're going through!!
