Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

TCJsMom, thanks for the uniform info.

Speaking of uniforms...My SRs recruiter shared this info with us before he left:

Did you all know that the SRs (the male ones) will have 5 different uniforms that they will purchase at RTC during training? Their PT sweats, the NWU (Navy Working Uniform), the Dress Blues, Dress Whites and the Enlisted Service Uniform.  According to our recruiter, the SRs purchase all of these and the accompanying accessories for each, with their first paychecks. I hope the Navy gives them a really good deal!!

Anyway, I found this website that I think is really cool. It shows all the different uniforms and the where's and why's our Sailors will wear them.

http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/support/uniforms/uniformregul...

I thought it was worth sharing...

Hey Sandi-momof3, I don't trust my memory to say when they change over for Whites, but I think they changed over to Blues in October and will still be in Blues for PIR. It won't be long, though, for Whites, but I think we are going to miss the change over for PIR by a few weeks. I like the Blues, but the Whites are so US NAVY!

DianneP - do you know if our SR's will be wearing blue or white for their PIR? I can't remember when they switch over from blue to white. Thanks

No letter today. I little sad but will pray I get one tomorrow. I am just so worried that she is still having a hard time with PT and need to hear that she is doing better.
