OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I got a letter yesterday too and my SR sounded very excited about PIR being just around the corner. She said the gas chamber wasn't bad they had this shortly after the PIR on 4/5. PIR she said was " the coolest experience I've ever had"
Can't wait to head to GL, packing already- kind of like nesting before their birth ha ha

Martie that is so cool that your SR is fluent in sign language! I wish they would offer sign language in the schools like they do Spanish, German, and French. How great would it be to have people fluent in a language that so many need but isn't taught to the hearing population unless you seek it out.

Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness..only 1 week now until we head to Waukegan to party and then see our SR!! I am doing a happy dance!!! lol

Got a letter yesterday..my poor baby ended up SIQ on 4/1 with a nasty stomach bug that had him worshiping the porcelin god 14 times before 1200 so his Chief made him go to medical to get it looked at. I'm going to have to thank that Chief! My SR would have been stubborn and not gone..talk about possible dehydration!

But all turned out well..he ended up going to the gas chamber early with another div as he had to make up a class he missed while siq. I think the sleep did him a world of good!

Now he's looking forward to Riki Heaven after his capping ceremony :) Made me a very happy mama to "read" such an upbeat letter!

One more week..one more week..one more week!! I'm gonna drive my self crazy!! LOL
