OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Just looked at the long range forecast for Great Lakes..next week Thursday and Friday are predicted to have a high of 50 which means not really. I would highly suggest looking at www.weather.com and enter the 60088 zip code next week or the day before you leave to come to PIR. At least then you'll have a close approximation of what the weather should be like.

Martie darlin..it will be at least cool when you are here. IF we get to upper 50's we'll be lucky. Remember RTC is near Lake Michigan so it is always cooler near the lake as our weather people say. DEFINATELY have a light jacket or sweater you can carry incase it is breezy or chillier than what you consider comfortable. For us up here..50's = swimsuit tanning weather :) lol

The weather is supposed to get better by the time we get there-I hope so I am a Southern girl-dont like cold at all!

I was just looking at the weather report there, crazy stuff! Maybe the future rescue swimmers can get in some early practice? Not too worried about my SR, she's a Washington girl so she knows 20 different words for rain :)

Good Rainy Morning all! It has not stopped raining here since early yesterday morning. So far Milwaukee has seen about 3 inches of rain and it's been heavier down near RTC. Guess our soon to be Sailors are learning to swim from building to building. good thing they have an Ark right there on grounds (aka BS21 Ship) but will they only take 2 from each ship? LOL
