OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi Everyone,

If you are wondering what would be a nice gift, please check out the challenge coins at www.pirgifts.com  Craig is one of the administrators here at Navy for Moms and he designed the ones for each of the ships here at RTC.  Your SR's ship name is right next to the ship number up above in discussions.  If you click on a particular coin, it will bring you to a page that has a short video on the story of the Challengs coin.  My daughter really liked hers when I gave her the USS Hopper one at PIR.  Also, on the link with the Recruit Training Command coins and 70 other coins, the Core Values (Honor, Courage, Commitment) one is just spectacular with a cut-out design and diamond cut beveled edges!!  If you order  now or next week you'll receive it in time for PIR~~

Prayers for everyone for our SR's to get there second wind. Also prayers for those who have been under the weather. I hope they get well soon and are able to PIR with their divisions. I will also be lighting my candler for them.
