OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My sons PIR last April was only five divisions, and he was in processing a p hold for 16 days waiting for enough to arrive...arrgh!

Like diannep said, lately 7 would be considered pretty small.

Got a letter from my son today. Sounded better than last weeks. He said it was warming up so they didn't have to wear their heavy coats. The funny thing is, he said it was warming up and could heard the birds chirping in the mornings. I can't remember the last time he was up early enough to hear the birds, lol. BC is good for many things in our young SR's lives.

Mattie, hope your daughter gets well quickly. Hang in there! Sending hugs your way....

Yes, UBU'sMom:  We actually saw a PIR group once that only had 4 divisions in it, another with only 5.  But 7 is still considered pretty small.  More room in PIR Hall!  :-)

I see there are only 7 divisions graduating on April 19th. Is that sort of small?

AndrewB/Mom That would be interesting, but it is the command and region that makes the call on what dress color is worn and when the change is. The switch this year is on May 6th for GL. I think someone has been given a story in BC, you never know though I guess. :)

The dress blues are acceptable year round, so if dress white are the named uniform,  they can wear dress blues, but not the other way around (the way I understand it).

Ellen0502 My SR called yesterday and said for his graduation Div 156 dress blues and brother Div155 Ship 9 will be wearing dress whites-just so you know this is what he told me!

Martie and TJCsMom - I'm here with you in feeling worried about our SRs.. The letter I received last week my SR sounded down which was the first since he got there. So getting the call yesterday is what I needed to make sure he was doing ok. His division is having a hard time coming together which is a downer for those that are trying so hard. They are exhausted with lack of sleep and the stress from all the drills, inspections, test, etc this week. The have my prayers to to get the others to come together.

Just putting this out there-I am traveling alone to PIR-have a hotel with 2 queen beds if anyone needs a place to stay-I also rented a car-get to Chicago April 18th noonish

Yes, Martie, I know what you mean!! I'm praying for them a second wind, too! I know last week was really hard for me....I couldn't even get on here much because I was just DONE with boot camp!! But, I got a second wind and I was feeling so much better this week. Then the phone call yesterday and the letter today have me a little worried. I know they will be fine!! I hope they know how far they've come...to just keep on pushing on!
