OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Navy'an, I am so relieved for you! The happiness I felt from my sons call was really dampened when I read your original post. I am so happy for you, and especially your son! So proud of all of them!

Navy'an. So so glad to hear that!! My heart was hurting for you and your Sailor. But now on to better things. I am so happy for our sailors ( children) and all they have accomplished thus far. We have arrived and checked in. I know our Sailors are within the mile somewhere here!! Feeling anxious and a little emotional.

Hello All!

"Come before Him, singing with joy."

That is such wonderful news, Navy'an!  Get to PIR early....your SAILOR should be in the balcony, in uniform, and tired!  Whatever he has to finish, I hope it won't take long and that you will get some time with him.  Gates open at 6:30.....your sailor probably won't be in there that early, but you sure want to be there when he comes in!

Good Morning All !  Safe Travel, enjoy Sarge's MeetandGreet tonight, and be early to PIR tomorrow!

Driving to PIR Hint:  Stay to the left on Buckley, car line to PIR on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around at the train station, which is right past RTC.  Head back to RTC from the opposite direction....easy left turn onto RTC....no wait!  We just heard from a mom from last week's graduation that it worked great for her!

Enjoy this very special time!  Good Morning!

I got my call!! My son passed and will be at graduation. He said he won't be walking in with his div but will be there. I was so happy for him and so proud. He said he doesn't know if he will be able to spend time with me, something about having to finish something. To much information needed and 30 seconds is not enough time for him to tell whats really going to happen. He asked if we were still going and I told him "of course". I'm just so grateful and super excited to see him Friday.
