N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Gals,

Glad you are able to hear from your SRs.  Remember that Boot Camp is an up and down journey.  They will be tired in the beginning because they are not used to the schedule and go, go, go.  Once they get into the rhythm of things, passing tests, learning new skills, and seeing what the future in the Navy holds for them, they will be more upbeat and confident.  Then they might have more challenges or maybe there are some personality conflicts among the SRs themselves.  So, above all, just listen and encourage.  Tell them you are proud of them, love them, they can do this, and you will be seeing them soon when they graduate PIR!!  Pray for them as we are praying for all of you and them~~  We are here for you!! (((HUGS)))

Good Evening,

This is the first time on this site and hope I am doing this correctly,  Our SR left for RTC on March 10, we received her form letter on March17 stating the her PIR is May 1 and is on SHIP 11 DIV 167, immediately I mailed all the letters I had written her, have mailed letters everyday since then.  We received a call from her on Saturday 3/21, spoke to her for about 5 min., in our conversation she mentioned she had not received any letters yet. Hoping she receives them very soon, being that she sounded lonely.  She mentioned that she's a yeoman and is head of 79 people consisting of both male and females, she said that she gets yelled at a lot for mistakes and it's pretty stressful. She sounded pretty down but mentioned the girls get along well. Tried to encourage her. We didn't have much time to talk but it really broke my heart to hear her voice break.  She passed all her PT test (Swim, Push-ups, Sit-ups) with the exception of her running test which she is not worried about that she has 2 more tries at that, she just mentioned that her duty is pretty stressful,  I pray days will get better for her. Can't wait to see her soon .  I am so proud of her. Like I mentioned earlier this is my first time on this site and hope I didn't post something I wasn't suppose to.

Does anyone know what restaurants are near Navy Lodge? I have food allergies and do not want to worry about food the entire time I am there. I will probably end up packing some things I can eat. But I will also need to eat out.

I think you are right, Johnsmom.  Today may be the day to collect their first letters, mailing out tomorrow, and they should then receive mail M-F.  But they can only write on Sundays, mailed on Mondays.

Good Morning!

Comment by Johnsmom on March 22, 2015 at 7:04am

They haven't been able to send any mail yet and its been 2 weeks. Maybe they'll be able to do letters today. He's very disappointed to get mail only once a week too. He was told mail would be delivered every day. I did read somewhere that this is the case in the beginning. So I'm hoping he'll be able to get his mail every day soon. It sounds like he could use a little encouragement.

Please let me know if I have made an error in the ship number of your SRs division.

Your Division Discussions have been posted up above. Please use them to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here.

Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We can have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-90 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.

Division discussions now open for business!!

POST AWAY!!

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC apply to the Discussion Forum area as well. The Division Discussions are viewable to all...just like the Main Wall here.

Please do not start new division discussions!!!!

The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is set at ten titles at a time for now. (This can be adjusted by the group creator or an administrator)

It is also set to show the "latest activity" (there are other settings). So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over ten discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear from view…but not from the Discussion Forum. So, if you want to see more, click "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.

When you view a discussion forum by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.

~You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.
