Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I was so happy to get a phone call this past Saturday morning around 11:30 from my SR. He sounded so good and happy and positive. He said they should be able to call every Saturday as they go to NEX for personal supplies. He is in Ship09 DIV160.

Kysmom:  Checkout Navy Lodge Great Lakes....a mile away.  Renovated a year ago....nice staff, good prices $66-$71.  You book in your SR's name unless you have your own military ID.

Others that have been recommended by ladies on this site are:  Holiday Inn Express, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn.....all very close together and near Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for the families.    We stayed at Residence when up there and really liked it.

I didn't think of the green ink. Great idea. I have printed pictures on the letters. Anything I can think of that will encourage.

I am sorry some didn't get calls. You will probably get calls when the others don't.

My 'daughter" is with Ship 03 Division 158.  She has always said I was her second MOM (and her real mom has no problem with that.), so that's why I feel comfortable being on this site for "moms".  :)  Hopefully her mom will join us too.

Thanks for info on Christian Chat too but I definitely won't leave this group because I know it will be a great support and give me ideas on what to include in letters and support other moms on this journey.

I'm going to print my letter to her this week in GREEN ink for St Patricks Day (obviously NOT the envelope!).  That's my "idea" for this week.

I also received my daughter's form letter.  She is Ship 03, Div 157.  Any recommendations on hotels near the Naval base?  Thank you.

MacksMommy, As soon as my son heard me say "Hello" he started crying a little. That shocked him. He said he was fine till he heard my voice. Said he felt like a pansy because of it. He was laughing by the time we hung up. :) I have complete faith that he was in Chapel this morning. That is how he was raised. I always thought he would grow up and be a missionary or evangelist. But God has led him to the medical field, and I am very happy for him.

diannep, I did not know there was a Christian Chat on here, I will be looking it up right now. Thank You
