OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

HizproudMama, You might also try calling the USO at the airport, perhaps someone picked them up and figured they might know what to do with them.

de40192, I'm like you utterly happy and shocked still numb to the fact he's a sailor now. Didn't think he'd go all the way with this and so proud of him. :)

Hello everyone I enjoyed my time with my sailor.., and hope you all did too:)

Everything went smoothly for us until we arrived at O' Hara Fri evening. My sons entire graduation photo pkg(including the additional I ordered they handed over to me there at the Exchange) which we had in hand somehow was misplaced at the airport in a restroom near Gate F10 US Airways. His girlfriend feels really sad as she was holding onto them due to the cancellations/delays of our departure and layover flights, I think that got us distracted. After having a meltdown in the restroom there..TSA, lost&found, & the bathroom attendant said nothing was turned in.

I am asking if anyone else who happened to be in the airport at that time near or about 5:00-10:00pm May 3 if they could please email me I would appreciate it.

I am posting this at my husbands request. I'm hoping I will be able to purchase another replacement pkg on Monday through Navy Exchange.

My sailor texted me from Atlanta a little while ago. Catching another plane and should be in Pensacola soon.  I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he is in the Navy!
