~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Angie:  Hang in there....so many are hurting with you with what is going on in our country.  SO much tragedy....we have to keep our chins up and keep our HOPE!  Hoping that you get a letter from your SR that will lift your spirits!

Absolutely, Rtarbaby:  Week #6 is the final week of training for them.....they are just days away from being declared SAILORS!  Busy and exciting times!

Hey AngieW. I am definitely feeling your pain. I will keep you in my prayers.

Having a hard time coping today.  Events in Boston and in West, Texas combined with the "unknown" with SR is just making me feel uneasy.  Hoping for a letter in the mail today to ease some of the pain and stress.  Send some prayers my way, please.

Today is 6-1...."Gas Chamber" .....Have not been confirmed yet to come.  Was looking forward to driving and seeing the PIR.  Was planning on taking my 6 year old grandson but found out he is supposed to be on the list.  Well "No news is good news".............except I hope to find out before April 29 with PIR on May 3 so I can cancel reservations

For those that have sailors on the USS Marvin Shields -
I am Craig, the designer of the boot camp challenge coins. I am in the process of writing the story about Ship-13 and CM3 Marvin Shields for PIRGifts. I wanted to share this video of the presentation of the Medal of Honor by President Johnson to Mrs. Shields and their 2 1/2 year old daughter, Barbara. It's kind of moving. Look at video starting at 12:50. It's cool, but sad....

Comment by Melissa (14/175) on April 18, 2013 at 9:41am

Well said Rtarbaby. I haven't gotten a call confirming who will be at PIR but no news is good news. I got a letter from my SR yesterday. His first PFA run was 14:59 and for his second PFA run he brought it down to 12:15. I am more than excited that he has improved so much. He says his division is still doing really well and scoring well.

Keep it up boys!!! We are all so excited for PIR on May 3rd! Keep encouraging your SR's. It is almost the end!!!!!
