N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you diannep. Well, I heard from others that sometimes they don't ship them out until right before the A school start date, and have been held at Great Lakes for weeks. So, I was glad it was only 6 days. I'm not sure.

anthonysmama:  I'm surprised that he is leaving so late?  Is he on "hold" for a waiver or something?  I would take his things with you just in case he finds out he is leaving earlier than he thought and you can make an airport visit.  If he is on hold there, I believe they are allowed to have their cells, but not allowed to have them if they are flying out on schedule.  Those are exchanged at the airport.  So the worst that could happen would be that you have to return home with his personal items and mail them to him at A School.  My son didn't get his cell before he left Chicago either....he had a phone card to use until I could mail him his phone, which I did as soon as he called me with the address, sent it priority mail, so he had it in 3 days.

Okay, so my son DIV 175, called Sat :) and said he will be leaving for his A school 6 days after PIR. So, will I be able to give him anything? (cell phone, laptop, clothes). Because we go back home Sat. So, I read if he was going to the airport that morning, I could give him things, but since he won't be... and will be staying at Great Lakes 6 more days...

kjh926:  My son's division won Hall of Fame when he was there, so they got an extra hour of Liberty....so yes, different times!  And remember those moving over to A School base do so right after PIR, so they are then under their rules, not RTC's, which can cause a difference in curfew time as well.

Good Morning!

Comment by ellen0502 on April 20, 2015 at 1:20am

The time to be back on base can and does vary, that's why you see different times. It will be sometime between 7-10pm though. :)

Your Sailor will be told the time at the liberty briefing. Whatever time it is pan on having your Sailor back to base no later than one half hour early. In the Navy "on time" is late.

On May 8th, does anyone know what time the graduates have to be back at the base? (I think I've read 7:00p and then I've also read 9:00p or 10:00p).

Thank you! I write mine daily so I'll make sure he has the last week by the week before!

Your welcome diannep! - wish Lovell's was still open, sounded like a wonderful place!

Great question Brittany, thanks ellen0502 I was wondering the same thing since I write my SR daily.

The link to Sarge's Meet and Greet is on the left side of this page under events.

Brittany, The recruits should receive mail through Thursday, although the last week of BC might be spotty. BattleStations etc.can interrupt mail delivery.

We recommend you stop sending mail the Friday or Sat before PIR. This should have your last letters to them by Wed.
