OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So very sad, Lala.  I'm so glad that the mom at least has her 4 yrs old, but what a horrible trauma.  Prayers for all of them and all of the victims/families out there....the rescue/recovery workers too....what a wonderful job they are doing with their wonderful Search and Rescue dogs...prayers for their protection as they make their way through such a horrible scene.

Good Morning All.

Also, proudmomma,

The food at Sarge's Meet & Greet is usually served at 6:00 pm and the event goes until about 9:00 pm.  It is family friendly as the facility is closed to the public.  Sarge has loads of information to help out the Navy families.

One more thing, there will be no Sailors there.  This is only for the Navy families.  You could meet each other there and sign up for Sarge's shuttles to save you having to drive to PIR.  It is $3.00 per person each way and you only have to walk about 50 yards from the gate to graduation hall.  I liked the convenience of that!

proudmomma, click on events at the top of this page and look at the calendar for the day before your PIR and you should find the event for the meet and greets. The one that Sarge does starts at 5 and he asks that everyone RSVP so he has enough food.

Hi everyone. I have had several emails and messages asking if there are any updates on my son-in-laws family who was swept away by the mudslide in WA. It is easier to update here than to send out so many messages and emails.

Billy Splillers and his children were home when the mudslide hit. His wife was at work. Their four year old son was among the first to be rescued after the mudslide. He was pulled free from the mud by firefighters and a helicopter and was reunited with his mom when she found him at a local hospital. It was announced on Monday that Billy was identified as the latest slide victim. Their daughter Kaylee, 5, was among the first victims identified. The body of their 13-year-old son (Billy's stepson) Jovon was identified last Thursday and their 2-year-old baby girl Brooke, is still missing. The family truly appreciates all the love, support, thoughts and prayers from all of our extended Navy family and I really appreciate the support we have received from all of you. There are 3 victims that have not been identified and 12 are still missing. Please continue to keep all the families affected by this disaster in your thoughts and prayers.    Thanks so much <3 <3 <3

For those who have kids at home missing their mom/dad/sibling etc this can be really hard for them to understand. Especially the younger ones. There are many things you can do with them that would help them understand how much longer it is until graduation. You can make a paper chain together with a link for each day remaining and let them remove a link each day so they can actually see PIR getting closer and closer. You could also put a quarter in a jar for each day and let them remove one quarter per day and at the end of each week use the quarters for a special treat like an ice cream cone or something they love. You could also use marbles in a jar for the same purpose. Anything that helps your little ones understand how much longer until that big day will help :)

I have a question, How or what is the info on the meet & greet by Sarge?  We are driving from Idaho and we are trying to get a grasp on when to be there so we do not miss anything especially if it is to see my son!!!!
