~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Happy Friday!
"The Lord on high is mightier
than the noise of many waters,
than the mighty waves of the sea."
Psalm 93:4
anyone else with SR in ship 09, div 170????
Thanks ladies!! I'll be making hotel reservations this weekend :)
Good News, its only been 8 days and I got to speak to him today (he needed me to email him something). It made my DAY, he confirmed his ship/div (his recruiter was actually correct ). I'm going straight to the post office when I leave work to mail his letters. I was stressing about the form letter but I'm good (for now .
darn it... nothing again today :( very disappointed I thought for sure it would be there today
Hello all! It is so good to get to know the family of the men my son is with right now! His dad and I are praying that we will be able to figure out how to get there for his graduation but not sure the money is going to be there to do it! I want to see him so bad!
bobnver: She won't be able to "fraternize" with the guys....big no no. Yes, they train together, but will be warned of getting too friendly. Of course, she bunks with another division of girls, so no issues with fraternizing then! :-)
Make sure to check out Southwest Airlines, if they fly from Burbank. They would not fly into OHare, however. They only fly into Milwaukee (45 min drive to GL) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ drive to GL) airports. No change fee...in case your SR's date is moved back....2 bags check for free.
No harm in booking the hotel now....liberal cancellation policies for them as long as you book direct with the hotel and not with a discount travel site (which have their own rules on cancellations!).
Suggested hotels from reviews on this site are:
Navy Lodge Great Lakes (book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID yourself)
Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express....these 4 are close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for the families.
Hi all. I got one question answered.. it sounds like ship 14; div 165 is both male and female since there are some "sons" in their with my daughter. She's always had more male friends then female... I think this is good thing for her... (she's 22 so she's been out of high school for a bit)

We're coming from Burbank in Southern CA to PIR... I am going to start to look for airfare/hotels as well. We can fly into O"hare from Burbank so we will probably do that since its the closest...
Here is the Livestream link to today's PIR service for any who may want to watch:
Watch our recruits graduate live Friday at 0845 Central Daylight Time.
Follow the link and join our chat: http://navylive.dodlive.mil/
The video will display under Live Events during broadcast.
VinsonsMomConnie: Most of the new sailors will fly out the day after PIR. Sometimes if they cannot get flights, they will leave on Sunday, but most of the time, they leave on Saturday. They are bussed to the airports anytime from midnight into the wee hours of the morning. You can meet your sailors at the airport, give them personal items like cellphones, laptops, etc (whatever they can fit into their Navy backpack)...and with ID, get an airlines gate pass and wait with them until departure. Your SR will not know flight arrangements until right before PIR.
Welcome to the group, gamom!
Good Morning All !
