~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

VinsonsMomConnie,

Your SR will most likely leave for Pensacola A School early Saturday morning, so you will spend time with him on Friday from 10:30 am to that evening (he will know what time he HAS to be back to his barracks by).  All the Sailors will be bussed to the airports at the same time (1:00 am and on), then flights leave throughout the day.  My Sailor daughter flew out of Midway Airport for Pensacola~~

Welcome, Teri!

OHare is the closest airport to GL...about 35-40 min drive.  Milwaukee is just a few minutes longer.

If you can rent a car, it is usually more economical than using the shuttle/taxi services.  There are some deals out there on car rental.  Gives you the freedom to do what you want on PIR Day too....and for those with sailors staying in GL for A School, you will have the weekend with your sailor (they must return to GL A School base each night though)...a car would be nice for exploring!

If people do decide to just use Sarge's shuttle service from/to the airports and PIR, see if you can share a cab with other families here and save some money.  I believe if you use his airport service, he will take you to PIR for free.

darlene>>  does it matter what air port we fly into is O'Hare okay .. which is closer to GL. Southwest doesn't fly out of our town looking at other air lines

Comment by Darlene on March 20, 2014 at 9:03pm

Do you recommend renting car? or taking shuttles around?

Comment by Darlene on March 20, 2014 at 9:01pm
