Dr Kimber they requested 3 different times during the grad today to NOT go to the airport, in fact my son told us to PLEASE not to do this as they were specifically briefed about it.  But then again after some of the things I saw today by some family members I am sure everyone knows more than their sailors.  =(

Thanks, JessicaB.  I had already planned on it because I have stuff to give him to take, but I just wasn't sure how we got past security.

Hello All.  We had a great time at PIR and now I have a question?  Can we meet our SR at the airport in the morning and stay with him until his flight leaves?  How do we get past security?  Please help as I'm getting ready to take him back to RTC.  Thanks.

Our PIR was last weekend --  there were 12 divisions with a total of 908 graduates, security was heightened, and it wasn't bad at all. Yes, if you drive in, there is a long wait to get onto the base (we were in line for an hour) but once there, it is very smooth ... after all, they do this every week! The shuttles take a slightly different route and the passengers get out and walk onto base, so they don't wait in the long line. I saw lots of recruits waiting with wheelchairs for those who needed them. Everything was well done and went smoothly. Make sure you have proper identification -- registration and insurance if driving onto base, photo ID, birth certificates for children ...

We are here and all checked in.  I thought we were staying at the Navy Lodge and we sort of are but it is called the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites!  Our suite is just that!

Recruits are everywhere and I can hardly picture my son in his ?fatigues?.  We are headed to dinner at the Sammuel Adams lodge next door at then we will se you at the Meet & Greet!  If not there at PIR tomorrow!

I would suggest that all try to arrive at PIR between 7-7:30.  Closer to 7 would be better.  Take the 6:30 shuttles if you can; if driving, be in the line by 6 at the latest.

ENJOY!  It is wonderful!  We are proud of your sailors!
