Can you believe you have less than a month until PIR? For those who have already ordered ribbons and paid for them they were shipped today. You should have them by Saturday or Monday. Be sure and let me know what you think of them when you get them. :-) Also check your box for a FREE scrapbook embellishment.

mama-the best thing to do is to post these questions in his Aschool group on here. My son is in Groton CT, and i have a few friends who have sailors spread out over the USA, and im going by what ive heard/read from them, and by my own experience with my son. I know that in Groton they are allowed all these things AND their vehicle also. But i saw on the RTC FB page that each Aschool is different. Although, from my experience, the ones i know of have all been the same as my sons. I would hate to give false info about the one lone school out there that doesnt allow vehicles...lol!

BTW...none of the fellow Navy moms i speak of has a Sailor in South Carolina...:(

Ooopss!  Also, what about his car?  When will he be able to have that?  He's flying to South Carolina so we will have to drive his car there and fly home.  When can that happen?

Question though - Aren't there certain restrictions on cell phone usage, computer and stuff like that at the very beginning of A School?  I've heard some differing opinions.  My son was thinking he could have his cell phone and computer right away.  Any thoughts?
Comment by janlee on April 14, 2011 at 5:25pm

navyGF---yes, they allowed all the things you would expect to have while in college. They are even allowed game stations, tv's, radios, etc...They shop for their own groceries..they are pretty much living thee dorm life.

Its nice too, because we at home can send them as many care packages as we want...being they are allowed food, thats pretty much what my son and his roomies ask for...:))

Comment by Navy-Girlfriend32 on April 14, 2011 at 4:44pm
Yeah they get a computer and their phone and everything at A school right?

Rowena:  I ditto what janlee said...absolutely.  My son LOVED A School and I bet your daughter will also.  It is SO not like bc!
Comment by janlee on April 14, 2011 at 2:59pm
Rowena---its hard for them (and us) to see the finish line. They are kept busy, but the days are so long. As it gets closer to PIR, they will satrt to practice for graduation, get ready for BS21, and compete in the Captains cup. Once they go to Aschool, it is COMPLETELY different. BC will be just a bad memory. Aschool is just like college (except for the occasional inspection, duty days, and watch duty...lol). She will be able to go out to eat, go shopping, talk/text/FB anytime she wants. NOTHING like BC....:))
