N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you diannep, CatMom509, and ellen0502! My daughter didn't know if she could take her navy issued suit so I will let her know. Also, since a bad haircut is just too possible with her extremely curly hair, she has not wanted the Navy to cut it, trusting only a beautician. On flying to duty station, does she report back to GL or can she fly from home state?

DepthCharge4, Like diannep said liberty weekend uniform at all times, and she will be informed of that. Their "uniform" also includes "swim wear," so your daughter just need to bring her Navy issued gear if she wants to get in the hot tub.

For getting her hair trimmed she might be better off doing that on base (they know the regulations), and it's a whole lot less expensive. :)

She can wear her dress whites to her cousin's wedding (dress blues can be worn any season).

From the uniform code:

Dress Whites

May be prescribed for Summer Wear and when Dinner Dress or Full Dress Uniforms are not prescribed and civilian equivalent is coat and tie.

Dress Blues

May be prescribed for wear year-round to all official functions when Dinner Dress or Full Dress Uniforms are not prescribed and civilian equivalent dress is coat and tie.

Uniform Regulations

DepthCharge4,

Please let your SR know that she needs to have her Navy issued swim attire with her on Liberty.  This is what she can wear in the hotel pool/hot tub area~~

She will be advised of uniform etiquette but I do know of people who have worn their uniforms to weddings, church, etc.

I'm guessing then she can't sit in the hotel hot tub with us?

During Liberty, which is PIR weekend, yes, in uniform at all times in public areas.  Ok to wear civies INSIDE the room....cannot step outside of the room at all out of uniform.  Must be in uniform for everything during Liberty!

They get Leave between A School and duty station....some may be going on to C School before duty station though.  Yes, since your daughter sounds like she is undesignated, she will get Leave between her 10 day A School and going to the fleet.  Not sure for how long...she will have to find that out.  The Navy pays for her transportation to her duty station...if she wants to go home first, she changes the ticket herself and pays any fare difference/change fee.

And when she reports for the fleet, can she fly from home?
Comment by DepthCharge4 on April 21, 2015 at 7:50am
I know our SR's will be informed, but where must they wear their uniform while on leave? If we stay at the hotel for the day it's ok to wear civvies? How about going to get hair trimmed or eyebrows done? A manicure? Any restaurant as well?
Also, when daughter is done with her 10 day A school in Great Lakes she will have some kind of leave to come home. Do we have to come pick her up? Can she wear her dress whites to her cousin's wedding? To church services?
