Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I was having a very hard morning with all these emotions and then the mail lady brought me two letters from my son. YAY. I cried. It's hard but he said he can feel himself changing. I hope the rest of you Mom's get a letter or call soon.

Lala: I just got a new computer (not setup yet). Had to because Microsoft is discontinuing support for Windows XP...so hackers can get in. I normally have no trouble getting on this site with my old computer....sure hope the new one won't bring problems like you had! :-)

I believe that you can actually order their photos for a year -you can call the Photo Lab and check with them:
847 578 6205
...that would be their individual ones...not sure about division ones...and The Keel (yearbook) has to be ordered right away. I waited until a week after my son graduated to order and it was too late. If your SR orders Pkg A of the photos...The Keel is thrown in for free.
Another hint given to us by a father in a previous PIR group. Leave RTC with your sailor after PIR, enjoy your day, and return later in the afternoon to order the pictures....no lines.

Hi Everyone,
Wanted to share this link/information with everyone just in case anyone else was curious about graduation photos, etc. It's from another discussion on this website so I just copied the link so you could all read up on things and maybe share the information with your SR's.
I found this information while on a facebook group where someone had requested information so the link was shared with them. After reading up I made sure to write down all important information in a letter to my son and mailed it off today. One thing to keep in mind that I read, the photo's can be ordered the day of your SR's PIR (and that entire weekend I believe) however according to many people, these lines become extremely long so much of your time that morning is spent in there instead of quality time with your new sailors. I've chosen to pass along all the information to my son so he can order everything and I will just reimburse him the cost for it all. Hope this information is helpful.
