Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

NavySister:  They look for those with higher ASVAB scores for the 900 divisions because they have a tighter schedule, with practices and training to complete.  Also, not all in those divisions play a musical instrument, sing, or are drill team.  Many are "behind the scenes" personnel, helping the VIPs, holding open doors, etc.  They participate in 2 other PIRs in addition to their own.

MonkeyBoysMom:  I was told recently that there are no longer phone banks in the area where they are processed in.  So not all can call unless they have a cell phone or borrow someone else's.  When my son was there, they still had the phone bank in the processing area.

The sicknesses shortly after they arrive usually can be attributed to the massive amounts of vaccinations they get when they arrived, which can temporarily lower their immune systerms, subjecting them to the many germs around them with so many in close quarters!  They get through the illnesses!

Still waiting on a call. I'm happy and excited for all of you who go to talk to your SR but i can't help feeling sad waiting by my phone. Hopefully it comes eventually!

USnavygirlfriend0627,

I agree with Maureen and was glad you got the opportunity to personally share your news with your SR and that he was happy and supportive~~  Praying for both of you and your families!
