For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on March 28, 2013 at 12:41pm: SarahsMom: Yes, plan to be there at the latest by Thurs evening, hopefully in time for one of the MeetandGreets! They start around 5-5:30 and run until around 9.

You will not see your sailor until PIR the next day. They are not allowed to attend the MeetandGreets. Look to the right of this page...and you will see the 3 MeetandGreets offered (this group is not on there yet, but you can click on one of the other PIR dates and read about that particular MeetandGreet--they have the same ones for each weekly PIR group).

As far as when to book your return flight, we always advise you to book back on Sunday if possible in case your sailor doesn't fly out until Sunday. It will most likely be Saturday (and you can visit with your sailor at the airport)....but occasionally they leave on Sunday. They won't have their flight info until PIR week.

For those with sailors staying in GL, we recommend you fly back late Sunday or even Monday as you will have daytime Liberty with your sailor through the weekend.

leighannjoyce: Welcome! The form letter will come any day now, but occasionally they can take up to 2-3 weeks to receive. They can only send out one letter....so if you don't receive it, could he have sent it somewhere else? Since you received the box, I assume you will be getting the form letter too.

Still no address or ship number though..I'm guessing this will be on "the form letter" question is when does that come? Soon hopefully? I have so many letters I want to send out to him!
