Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Kat216 the red roof said we can extend our stay so that's good. It's the plane reservations that I'm wondering about. Supposedly there's a large shopping mall about 10 minutes from the hotel. Something to do on Thursday

Midnightboatride, He should have liberty on Sat and Sun and probably Monday too since it is a holiday. If you can stay through Monday I would do so.

Today is my son's birthday.  He turns nineteen.  It's so hard not being able to tell him happy birthday!

Comment by Midnightboatride on April 6, 2014 at 5:30pm

Have question though. From what im reading on here it seems my son may have liberty during the day 6am to 10 pm most of weekend. I hope its true. Are you guys sure that if he does A school at GL he may get Monday off too? For Memorial day. Because if so I might need to reserve that Monday evening at hotel to maximize my time with him and not be driving home late at night.

Love reading everyones comments! Thank you. As for us, my son is div 928, ship 2, we booked at the holiday express inn and suites for may 22-24th. Its 5.7 miles from base and they do have a shuttle. Upon reading the comments on this page I'm going to call back to find out what kind of shuttle and if ut costs anything for us and my son to ride to hotel after PIR. Suite was $119 per day. Keep in mind they have an 11% sales tax up there.

JuneP we made reservations there too and I also have the same question. We are leaving on the 24th, but will stay if we can spend more time with our son. Would be nice to know when they will actually fly out.

I made reservations at the Red Roof Inn 5/22-5/24 not realizing it's a Federal Holiday. My son's supposed to go to Mississippi for A school. Does anyone know if they leave right away or do I have to extend my stay until he leaves? Don't want to leave before him unnecessarily
