OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Navygirlfriend21 what division is your SR in?

My brother was able to call my parents and they have his daughter this weekend so they were able to talk. My niece was thrilled to hear from her daddy!!

Got to talk to my son today too! It was so good to hear his voice. He was sick for a couple days, but is fully recovered now. Says the food is like typical cafeteria food but not bad. He said he really likes getting mail!

I got a call today too!!!! My boyfriend and I talked for 15 minutes!!!! It made my whole year to hear his voice. He said he was on hold for a week and doing a lot of folding of laundry and stowing away. He had a lot of study time too. He said the food isn't too bad but he doesn't get much sleep. But he sounded so good!! And he has made a few friends who are also staying at GL for A school. He said he has been able to write but has to wait until sometime this week to finally send them. Six more weeks until I can see his handsome face!!! He said letters are huge there and it really gives him something to look forward too. So keep writing and cheering your PRs on ladies!!! He almost didn't get to call because of thunder storms earlier but they stopped enough for him to have some time. He said the weather has been really nice other than that. His DIV got their first "hit" yesterday though because they are a talkative group. But all in all everything is going well. So keep your phones on loud and by your side!!

I just received a call from my SR and one happy mama. He said the food is good and gained weight. He says bootcamp isn't that bad. Said it is hot today and suppose to snow next week. He sounded really good. And five minutes into the call I heard hollering in the background and he said sorry I have to go. So happy I heard from him!!
