For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I found myself in my Sailor's room today... I stood there wondering if I should start packing it up or leave it until he comes home on leave...I felt sad ..knowing he's not coming home to stay...another part of me felt proud on how much he's grown and what a wonderful man he is becoming.. A lot of his friends are home from college and he's working to learn his job in order to defend our country...his cool is that?? It's a road of ups and downs..but being a mom of a Sailor is one I wouldn't trade for anything..
I find myself praying for our country, our military service men and women. I also add in prayers for us moms missing our Sailors...
Just figured I would share my thoughts for today... Hope everyone has a blessed day..

You are very kind, Youngestson. I must confess, I am proud of and thankful to the Lord for him. :-) I hope you do get a chance to meet. He told me that he did know your son and that he was very nice.

My son is on hold for maybe 3-4 more weeks. They have them doing "indoc" (basic introductory stuff?) while waiting for the next class to begin. He, too, stood watch until 12 or 12:30 a.m. this morning. He said they are up at 4 a.m. However, this weekend they're going to a rodeo, in civies. :-) I've gotten a few calls, but he has a wife to call as well. I'm still waiting for him to send me his mailing address or to start checking e-mail. "Youngestson" also talked to my son yesterday, and he enjoyed that. She's in the area, so they may get together.

Same here... One call since leaving him on Monday. He is in Great Lakes. He says his days run from 6am until 6pm. His classes start next week so hopefully he will have more time. He also had watch from 8pm until 12am Tuesday. He says they are constantly busy but he is loving every minute... It's definitely another adjustment period...

I've chosen not to "follow" the groups I'm a member of. I'm a member of all the PIR groups ( just as Diannep is), the Boot Camp Moms, Sailors in Pensacola, and Christian Chat. I post daily scripture in all the groups (at the request of 1 of the veteran moms) I'm a member of. I just pop in and scroll through the postings from the last time I posted in each group. I think that goes through much quicker than clicking on each message in your inbox, if that's the way you have it set-up. Anyways, it would be great to see your questions and contributions in the Pensacola and Christian groups!! You can always find Diannep in the Boot Camp Moms group too.

Ladies,
I too, thought that with no more restrictions on our communications, I would hear more from my Sailor daughter. That has not been the case though. You moms who get daily texts, even if it's just "Good Night, Mom" be blessed. I think it is just me, the mom, in this island of non-communication. My 2nd daughter talks daily with her sister and I know my husband gets emails. I don't even get a response when I write her a real letter and text her. My friend whose daughter left for the Air Force 2 weeks after my daughter left for the Navy says she is getting the same treatment. Hardly any communication and a distancing. Don't know if maybe they are trying to be "big girls" and not calling mom, but we do appreciate the communication, even if it's just "thinking of ya", "miss ya", and "Love Ya, gotta go to work!" Everyone's child will be different, but I want to say that the infrequent communication seems to be a norm.

Our son is at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Tx. waiting for his class to form. he tells us that that will not happen until June 10th. So, in the meantime, he appears to be very busy with some sort of classes, pt, and other things. Since he does have his cell phone, we are mainly getting text messages and questions about doing laundry and things like that. Like your sailors, he does not seem to have much time to just talk so we do not know much about his daily routine. Seems like his hours right now are all over the place... Hopefully, when he starts his class, they will become more regular and we will be able to communicate with him more often. I agree that this is almost as frustrating as when he was in boot camp but, at least, we can now reach him by phone if we need to.

MaMick I did get the opportunity to talk to him 20 minutes last Sunday. He did mention that while on the clock it was more intense ... Example ... he said his dress shoes were not even close to being what they consider shined and his new two best friends would be a Tide Pen and Lint Roller. I really feel in my heart that if he was able to communicate more he would so for now I look forward to that nightly good night text. He is married so I know he also is trying to keep as much communication as possible with his wife but boy oh boy is this tough. He is my oldest so learning to let him fly on his own is tough.
