~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".
DINKY ... My update since PIR ... What an emotional roller coaster I face again today as my son left this previous weekend to arrive at his combat training station and today's events in Washington. He was home for two weeks and the time went by slow enough to feel like he was "home" again but so fast that it seemed like in a blink he was driving away. The moment he totally surprised me and walked through the doors of my job was just as you see in pictures. He threw me off a day saying he couldn't get a flight home due to the Labor Day weekend and I actually believed him. He was so good at the surprise I believed he had "duty" and couldn't talk when he was actually traveling! It wasn't any easier on me to have him drive away verses dropping him off at MEPS. He has graduated his "A" School and is an official CM Seabee. I had a Welcome Home Party with balloons, banners and all his favorite home food. While home he met his newborn son of 3 weeks which was yet another very emotional moment for all of us. I soaked in as much time as possible in between him reuniting with his wife and bonding with his newborn son. He has his orders so this "Mom/Nanna" will be doing some traveling this upcoming holiday season and the upcoming summer. Gosh I miss him yet I find the sense of pride and knowing he is happy and doing what he joined the Navy to do over rules my missing him. Hope to hear about others who graduated BC with him!
Our sailor's bc "yearbook" arrived just minutes ago by US mail and it does say "Forwarding Service Requested" in the upper left-hand corner. The return address is:
Navy Exchange Photo Lab
2601 East Paul Jones St.
Great Lakes, IL 60088
I can't remember if someone was asking about this or not, but just in case the info' is useful to someone, I'd figure I'd post it.
Sweet! Look so forward to relive the moment!
The DVD arrived via FedEx today! Only took, what, 6 weeks. Guess that's actually not too bad considering the number of classes they have graduating each week. Can't wait to watch it!
Thank you for the update! I was just regretting not thinking ahead enough to go down to TX for this long weekend. I didn't realize my Sailor would have the whole 4 days off. However, their group does have watch during this long weekend.
