OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hello All!!

     "Finally, be strong in the Lord

      and in His mighty power."

                           Ephesians 6:10

Friends,

This scripture is so appropriate for the Battlestations that your SRs will be going through soon.  Perhaps you can share with your SR in a letter now.

     "Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

      I have summoned you by name;  you are mine.

      When you pass through the waters,

      I will be with you; and when you pass

      through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.

      When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;

      the flames will not set you ablaze.  For I am the Lord,

      your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior..."

                                                                 Isaiah 43:1b-3a

Hi Everyone,

     "The name of the Lord is a strong tower;

       the righteous run to it and are safe."

I should add to my post below that all of the SRs are issued a supply card when they arrive (amount of it is deducted from their first pay)....they can use this at the NEX to get the personal supplies that they need, including more phone cards.  So, juliea, as far as what they need, they should be able to take care of that there, unless there is something they need to use which is not available in the NEX....in that case, they need to clear it with their RDCs before you mail the item to them.

juliea:  No care pkgs are allowed.  Now, if your SR requests you send something, for instance, contacts (can be worn at PIR) or makeup (for piks/PIR), then you are allowed to send these.  But otherwise, no care pkgs.

Has anyone sent a package to your SR? If so what kind of stuff can you send and what do they need?

Hello!

     "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,

       do it all for the glory of God."
