~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son left for BC on April 2nd,he is in Div.186..Is there any other moms who's son/daughter are in this division??Also I keep wishing he would call me,I wanna hear how he is doing and how things are going..I miss him so much..Has anybody received a call from the child yet?

Trish:  Are you talking about sending your SR the credit card to pay for this?  Or talking to Photo Lab and paying that way?  I don't believe you can pay directly, until after PIR when your SR is with you.  My son was able to pay for his when he was there because he had his credit card with him (I paid him back).  It is not necessary for them to pay for them right away....you can pay after PIR and pick up the pictures then.

I was reading theinformation about the keel and pictures~ does anyone know if I can send a cc for the payment of these? I just dont know how the SR's have any money accessible to them?

my son went in on 3-28 and his pir is 5-30. does that seem weird that we have the same pir date?

I am excited to get a call from him. or a letter, whichever is ok, but to hear something would be awesome. i miss him. and want to hear some good news. i write everyday, and his sister draws a picture and we send it together. but i am going to have to figure out what else to write about as i am running out! :)

For those graduating in this group, when did your recruit arrive there? My son got there on 4/4. Was supposed to be there on 4/3, but flight got cancelled as we got to the gate.

cindyb & J-Man'sMom,

Also, the 2 days out in SIQ is relished by the SRs and factored into their time in Boot Camp, so all will be okay~~

J-Man'sMom, my son will also have to get wisdom teeth out. I haven't heard anything from him about it yet. Totally stresses me out though. Getting a tooth out is not nice and it does seem like it takes away from what they are doing....but I guess it needs to be done.

Comment by cindyb on April 11, 2014 at 10:39am

I am going to crazy glue the phone to my hand! lol I can't wait for a call this week! Hopefully they will get to write some letters soon too.

Comment by diannep on April 11, 2014 at 8:44am

J-Man'sMom:  Wisdom teeth extraction is very common at Bootcamp.  They remove any that they feel potentially could cause problems in the fleet...they give them SIQ (which means sick in quarters....resting in their racks) for a couple of days until they are ready to train again.  He'll get through this!  He will have lots with him doing the same thing!

Good Morning All !
