N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!  So, who will be making those I'm a Sailor calls this afternoon?  183/184?  Or will 185/186 call also?  Time will tell!  Calls can start as early as 2 pm Central so have phones handy.  I was told by one person that 185/186 will not go until next week, so throwing out this other possibility just because lately, they have been running 4 divisions on the Thurs night, week before PIR week (and they go in order, except for 900 division).  If no calls come today from 185/186, they will come in on Tues or Wed afternoon.

Please post your division number and news of your call when you receive it for others to see so they know what to expect!  Also, be checking their Facebook accounts.  Some get on the computers before they have their time on the phones.

Hi fellow NMs! Div 929 mom here! Got my last letter from bootcamp, too, today! I'm going to miss these weekly letters, but I'm beyond giddy knowing I can lay eyes on my Z-Man next wk! I'm already so grateful for what the Navy has brought to him. He is now Navy Qualified as an Expert Marksman, and ladies, this mom is over the moon that he has something for which he can hold his head high! I know I'm not alone in the joy of seeing our SRs sail!! Warmest regards! Misty

That sounds so beautiful mariekg! I would have been in tears and unable to drive after seeing that! I am so proud to be the mother of a soon to be Sailor in the United States Navy. I'm sure we are all bustin with pride about now! I am so excited to meet everyone at PIR in a week. I've got a question for some of the veteran moms... my SR wrote that he got the classification he put in for "MM"? I know he signed up to be a nuke but don't understand what the acronym means?

...I was driving to work this morning and under the Verazanno Narrows bridge (connects Brooklyn NY to Staten Island NY) comes the USS Cole lead by two NYCity fire boats Spraying Red and Blue streams of water for the Cole to pass through!!!  ...and that marked the start Fleet week!!   What a site to behold!!
