~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Cheryl: They don't get much rest before making the I'm a Sailor calls! They have things they have to do before calling. They are pretty darn tired when they call since they have been up since early the morning before! But they are excited and get to "hit their racks" 2 hrs early that night!
marie: You crack me up....batteries in the smoke detector for your burning blue candle....ummmm....thinking you had better go "electric" on your candle! :-)

NanM: I would think that his final PFA would probably be this week....his BattleStations for his division should be next week. So hopefully he was referring to one of the earlier 2 PFAs! Those are more like practice....that 3rd and final one, like ellen said, is the one that counts! He will have to pass it before his division's BattleStations in order to participate with them....if he doesn't, he will call you. Hope for NO CALL until the I'm a Sailor call! :-)
CB'sMom,

Morning All!!
"The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
the plans of His heart to all generations."
Psalm 33:11
Thanks ellen0502.....So now, after all these weeks of hoping for a phone call, I am now hoping for NO phone call until next week when he tells me he's a Sailor!!! He had filled in one of the questionnaires I sent and it is dated May 4th. That makes me think it was NOT his first PFA, but maybe the mid one? I am still hoping it was his first one though! Maybe we will get another letter this Thursday that will give more information.....but I won't hold my breath, lol! He's not much for letter writing, haha!
NanM, Your son will have the opportunity to correct the names sometime this week, and I am sure it will be made very clear that it must be proper names. The form letter really doesn't count as the guest list, some have even put their pets names on the form letter.
As far as not passing a PFA. First, I don't know when your son wrote the letter saying he hadn't passed the PFA so it could be a mute point now. :) The one that counts is the final PFA.
If your son has not passed the final PFA by this week you will get a phone call telling you not to come to graduation, but do not cancel any plans for travel right away. The recruits have a couple more attempts in the last few days of BC, and after that phone call to try and pass, and will still graduate on time if passed.
Good Morning everyone! Oh My Goodness....I am so far behind responding to anyone, I wasn't even on a vacation like Cheryl, lol! mariekg, You are such a crack up I can not wait to meet you and so many others at the Meet & Greet on the 29th!!
I just ordered two more challenge coins this morning and they say we should have by the 22nd, so should still be plenty of time to order. I know my last one came really fast.
I have a question....on the form letter we first received, my son just wrote "Mom" "Dad" on the access list. I have written to him and said he needs to change those to our real names, but when he left a message on my daughters phone on 4/25, he said they were told they could put mom and dad.....I am going to remind him again that I think he needs to change to our real names, but WHAT IF HE DOESN'T?!?! Will we get turned away, or will they go ahead and let us in with the same last name?!?
Also, does anyone know the time frame on PFA testing for the last time? One of the questionnaires my son sent back said he did NOT pass his pfa! I'm hoping that was his first one, and that he's built up from there! It seems I read somewhere we would have gotten a phone call if he had been put in a FIT division/ship(?) How soon would we know if he's NOT going to get to do BST21 with everyone?!?! This mama is worried now! Hubby says I worry too much and that he's doing fine, but ....... :-/
BS starts in the evening so the date would be the starting date, and it is an overnight test and finishes ay about 9am. There are things they do after so phone calls usually start at about 2pm, but recently they came earlier than that.
The night after BS, lights out is at 8pm, and they are very ready for it, they have been awake since early the morning before. :)
