Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I am not a veteran mom but I read it's an overnight event so yes Sunday to Monday or Monday to Tuesday is correct but I don't think we get the call till later in the evening. I am guessing that is so they can get some rest after before calling. But again I am only going off what I read.

Yes cb's mom. The challenge coin link is PIRgifts.com put that in the address bar and it will take you to an eBay page where they are all listed. I got both of mine there and they are really nice. They shipped fast too although it is getting close so I would expedite it.

Veteran Moms I Have a question:  If your Sailor goes through battle stations on lets say 6/23 (fictitious date) does that mean they are going through Sunday night into Monday or Monday evening into Tuesday?  How does that work?  Want to make sure I have batteries in the smoke detector for the right night I burn the candle  :)

Does anyone have the link to challenge coins?

Good morning everyone, My internet was down for two days last week because of storms and when it was finally back up I could not get on this site at all. It was so weird. I ended up having to change my password but couldn't remember the password for my old email I used when joining this site. What a mess lol. I hate having so many passwords lol. I hope you all had a great weekend.

We have our sailor/daughter and grand baby home on leave for a few more days. I can't believe it has been almost 4 years since she joined. She will be getting out of the Navy the end of this month and will be headed to CA soon to join her husband who is also in the Navy and based there. Once she is there she will join the Navy Active Reserves so that will be a whole new experience for her and really for me too. My SIL re-enlisted for 6 more years so it will probably be a long time before they have a chance to move back to the east coast and closer to home. I am going to CA to visit them in June, my first flight ever :-\ lol

and if you live in the San Diego area let me know. We will be having a meet and greet for Navy Moms/families while I am there in June :)

Good Morning Everyone!  BattleStations for this group will start towards the end of this week, continuing during PIR week.  You almost have SAILORS!  :-)

We recommend you stop sending letters on the Fri or Sat before PIR. They will receive mail the week of PIR, but possibly not everyday. They will not, or usually don't have mail call the day BS is done, they might not receive mail on Thursday, and they won't have mail call on PIR Friday.

They do try to forward mail to your Sailors A School, but it doesn't always happen, and many letters get returned to sender. They cannot throw the mail away. :)
