~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

mariekg, usually within the first two weeks you should be able to visit them at A-school. Once they get there they phase up pretty quickly and are allowed off base during the day after about a week in most cases. They will be on a watch/duty schedule so they can count the day on a calendar and know which weekends they have off and that would be the best time to visit :)

Marie:  They usually phase up in about 2-3 weeks.  That is when they can leave base on the weekends (have to be back at night though).  Once your sailor arrives at A School, he/she will be in INDOC and learn all of this.  Now, it may be possible for you to spend time with your sailor before this 3 weeks ON BASE if you want to do that.  Again, wait until your sailor has gone through INDOC and finds out the rules of that particular base.

I assume your sailor will not be at GL A School?  If there, they get Liberty through the weekend (daytime) which is wonderful.

OK then I have one...based on your experience what is the earliest we can possibly spend time with our sailor while he is in A school...I am assuming they don't get leave for a while but which phase of A school can we take him out for a day etc...

HAAA, marie!  Hoping there are some letters in your very near future from your SR!

Good Morning All !

Still a very quiet group here.  Does anyone have any questions?  Remember, no question is silly and it doesn't matter if it has been asked before.  We are happy to answer them as many times as needed!  So please post!

I am thinking the mailman is not going to be happy  with the truck-load of mail he's delivering from my SR today....oh wait think I missed the snooze button...must have been dreaming...Guess I should have spent more time on the Essays and less focus on the Math when he was in school  :)

Hell Week is also Training week 4 (there are 6).  It is really a turnaround week for them in that they start feeling much more confident and have their "goal" in sight!  It is a very busy week, up earlier each day, but a good milestone to get through.
