N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hello! I'm out of VA couple hrs from VA beach. My nephew is in Navy and was once in Norfolk. Now my son, his cousin, is in boot camp. Time flies. Hey NanM I sent you a friend request. My son is in 186. I'm at Navy Lodge and going to Sarge's Meet & Greet. I wanted to get together before graduation. CB'S mom

OH Lala...YES, I hope insurance company totals it too, now that I see the picture and hear what she has to do to move the car!! It should get totaled, and then she can just get a new car here in CA, once the Insurance takes care of everything! I hope you get to hold your "babies" soon :)

Lala and cindyb...Yes, CA is great! Very different than what most people think of CA! Only a small section is "Hollywood/LA Crazy" Most of CA is beautiful and you could conceivably go to the mountains and the beach all in one day, but I don't advise it, lol! I'm only about an hour's drive from San Diego but we really don't make it down there much. I live near what they call "Wine Country" with lots of beautiful vineyards and avocado orchards to see.  I haven't been to San Diego in a LONG time, but downtown/old San Diego is a fun place to walk around. There is the zoo, wild animal park, Sea World, great restaurants, etc...lots to see and do :) I was born in San Diego at the Naval Hospital. My Dad was in the Navy too, cindyb, so we lived in San Diego for a couple of years, but I don't remember it either. My older sister was born in Norfolk, VA because Dad was stationed there too, before I was born. Lala, you will have a great time in San Diego even if you don't see all the sites, and only see your Sailors!!

Good morning and thanks so much everyone. We are very thankful that no one was seriously injured.

They are in VA Beach area. She is based at Norfolk right now. Her hubby is in CA, San Diego area and based at Coronado and I am in western NC, about 7.5 hours from VA Beach and so much further from CA . I am not sure you can get there from here lol.

We are kind of hoping the car is totaled. She was going to trade it for something bigger anyway and the Navy doesn't pay to move your car. So she is supposed to have it shipped to CA and that's over $1000. The Navy will also not move her to CA so she already bought a ticket to fly there later this month after a visit home first. If the car isn't totaled I am not sure how long it will take them to fix it or how that would work since she is leaving for CA. I hope we get more info later today so she can come home as planed. I will feel much much better when I see them and hold them in person :) This is her car now, thank goodness she has Gap insurance.

Lala...I'm so sorry about your daughter!! Glad she and the baby are ok and I hope the car isn't totaled!! Where was she? Sounds like she is going to go to CA, but that she wasn't there with you either. She and the baby are all by themselves?! I will pray for all of you and that the car situation is not as bad as feared!
