~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

There is a post under Goups-Boot Camp Moms(and loved ones) called 800 and 900 Divisions.  Towards the bottom of that post, it lists the current 900 division and when they are scheduled to perform.  929 is a Triple Threat div.  The triple threat division before that is 926.  926 will perform 4/25 PIR and 5/2 PIR.  929 will perform 5/16 PIR and 5/23 PIR.  There is no triple thread div scheduled for 5/9 PIR so it might be 929?

Hmmmm.....looks like there are 900 divisions in all of the current PIR groups and have been 900 divisions in each PIR group since they started the annual  division/TG number rotation over back in Nov.  It is true that they normally just perform twice before performing in their own graduation.  Maybe Lala can give more perspective on this since her daughter was in a 900 division?

Hi DebbieS

So happy for you! Wish my son would write! I don't know...I thought they only performed in the 2 PIRs before theirs....maybe since some got held (some say this is a "push" div?) there is a week where there is not a 900 Div graduating, so ours is performing 3 times before their own PIR??! When I talked to my son on Easter, he only said they would be performing in the 2 weeks before theirs...maybe they are all a little confused, lol! My son says they are not allowed to have a calendar, so I'm not sure what's up! I see people posting on FB, in our PIR 05/30/14 pages that say their SRs say it's such n such week/day, and they seem to be all different even if letter was dated around the same time!! I am one confused mama, hahaha!!

I WILL watch the PIR on the 9th too...just in case :) That's GREAT that they get to be in a parade too!! A little more practice before their PIR!

Hi NanM

I received a letter yesterday. (my second one since she's been gone)  She said that they are beginning more hands on learning so she was excited for that. The letter was dated 4/27 and she said that their " first PIR performance is in 2 weeks".  I'm thinking that they might be performing on May 9th as well as 5/16 & 5/23?   She also said that they will get to leave base to march in a memorial day parade.

Everything in her letter sounded very upbeat.  She said that the best part of her day is when she receives my letters!  So keep writing those letters even if you don't hear back from your SR.  They look forward to getting them!

Michelle:  We stayed at Residence when there and enjoyed it.  I have a friend who stayed at Courtyard and one who stayed at Springhill, both enjoyed their stays.  So sounds like they are all good hotels!  Be sure to ask for the Navy Graduation rate by calling the hotel directly to book your reservation.  Compare with any other discounts you may be entitled to.

Good Morning All !

Michelle,

Navy Lodge is a good, clean, basic hotel where you make the reservation under your SR's name and that's it.  They offer a shopping pass for the small NEX store there where you can shop without your SR being with you and they give you a breakfast on the go bag the morning of PIR (not sure if they charge for it).

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Waukegan/Gurnee which is a newer hotel that had a very nice self-serve breakfast with biscuits & gravy, waffles, bacon, sausage, cereal, pastries, coffee, etc.  There is a McDonald's right next to it.  Other hotels in the same area are the Residence Inn (pet-friendly), Springhill Suites, and Courtyard by Marriot. These are all around a Super Walmart and restaurants and are about 10 mins away from the RTC.

When I was looking for one for my SR, I went to Wal Mart, Target, Sam's Club and all they had were cards that add minutes to a cell phone!! I was like, "Nooo, that's NOT what I want...I want a card he can use with a payphone" They looked at me like I had three eyes or something, haha! I had to go to Costco that same day for shopping and asked on a whim if they had them....."Sure!" the gal told me, and took me right over to where they were! In my Costco, they were in the TV section on some shelving below the TV display and they have both US and International cards! :)
