Navy Lodge was great when we were there and it has been remodeled since then so it should be even better :)

We made reservations at the Navy Lodge.  There is no cancellation fee so we made them Thursday through Sunday, but will probably cancel Saturday night (we think he will fly out Friday night).  They have pet rooms there and the one thing my son asked us to bring before he left is his dog!

Rate were very reasonable and we got a room with a kitchenette so if he wants me to cook for him on Friday, I can!

Hello - I booked at the Red Carpet Inn, they say its 1.5 miles from base and they have free breakfast, shuttle and wifi. I booked with Expedia this is non-smoking 2 dbl beds total $255.21 for 4 nights.

Anyone using the travel discount sites online for your arrangements....make sure you are aware of their cancellation policies/fees.  Ladies in past groups got "stuck" when their SRs were asmoed (setback) or even discharged.  Be sure to call hotels directly and ask for Navy Grad rates too.   Sometimes those are pretty good rates!

Just want to clarify the comment about mail being inspected.  Yes, if a letter is "fat" or seems to contain anything other than a letter in it, the SR will have to open it in front of the RDCs.  However, mail that is obviously just a letter is not inspected by the RDCs.  We have had several comments in the past where ladies thought that all of their mail was opened before the SRs received it.  Not true....sadly we cannot control what friends send to the SRs and as evidenced by what J-Man'sMom said, it can get that SR in trouble if containing things not approved and an RDC finds out about it.  Better for that SR to keep that to him/herself and not share with others....even tearing up and disposing of info not allowed.

@Double A's Mom:  There is a LOT of information about mail on the Navy4Moms website. Son discussed what to do about correspondence before he left and here is what he decided to do.  1)  There are a lot of rules and nuances to the RTC incoming mail.  For examples:  No colored envelopes or writing/drawings on envelopes.  No more than a couple of pages in an envelope/no "pregnant" envelopes.  Keep the message positive and encouraging-no bad news.  2)  It's just not worth it to try and teach every friend the best way to send mail to an SR.  More than likely, several won't follow the rules/suggestions anyway.  Example:  A friend just mentioned her upcoming surgery in her letter.  This news would only cause Son to worry at a time when he can't afford distractions.  Another friend wanted to send a provocative letter with X-rated pictures of herself to help him and his fellow ship mates with morale, which would have led to added PTs, etc.  3)  In Boot Camp, there is no privacy to speak of.  Mail can and often is inspected.  4)  To counter potential problems, Son decided mail should only go to one address--Mine.  His fiance receives mail from her family and a few of Son's friends.  It's my job (and fiance's job) to read the letters, provide any needed editing and then forward the edited versions to him in BC.  The letters are saved, intact, in a box for him to read when he returns home from A School several months from now.  This way, he and his Division are saved from any added pushups and other problems.  5)  Keep in mind that Facebook has no real privacy, no matter what the security settings are.  Your Sailor's privacy could be breached.  6)  I've privately given my street address to all the friends Son wants to hear from.  I only published my email address on Son's FB wall.  7)  Friends will want Son to send them letters.  He has precious little time to write and mail letters, so his respondents are prioritized to family only.  We can forward his messages to his friends...So, there you are, our correspondence plans for BC.  So far, it's working out well.  :)

DoubleA's mom, You can post the address on FB, but I would highly recommend that you post something that directs them to message you for the address.

Keep in mind that what you post can be seen by not only your friends, but if privacy settings are wide open your post will be seen by friends of friends that hit the "like" button, and so on.

I found a wonderful link posted by lemonelephant regarding the 800 & 900 divisions. It looks like div 929 is scheduled to perform at the 5/16/14 and 5/23/14 PIR ceremonies?
