Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Has anyone received a letter yet, other than the formal one? It's almost two weeks, we should get something in the next week I would think! ;)

marie: You may be surprised when you get a letter. They are required to write in block letter style while in Bootcamp...I was sure that an imposter wrote my son's letter (he was there over 4 yrs ago)....absolutely....until he explained it to me! Most on this site will comment on how neatly the envelope was addressed....even the letter inside. So get ready....good things are coming in the mail!

great idea about the labels and the stamps...now if someone could send my son a scribe because I don't think I'll make out a word of his handwriting ! :)...that's a benefit though because then the letters say whatever I want them to say like "where would I be w/o you Mom" and "Don't care who else comes to PIR as long as your there Mom" LOL

The Navy Pass In Review Graduation from Boot Camp is just something once in a lifetime in your SR's Navy career. It is the only graduation in the Navy that has the special "pom and circumstance" associatied with it. All the other ones from A school, etc. is just a small group in a room. High School graduation is a milestone in every young person's life too.
You will be able to get a dvd of PIR, but there's just something about sitting in that graduation hall. Take a peek at a Livestream of a PIR on Friday morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, Great Lakes time. I don't see the link up on Pages now, (may be in View All) but maybe you can see one of the ones that just passed~~
I agree with mariekg, that this will probably have to be a divide and conquer situation~~

AJsMom: When my son was there, he wrote home on Navy stationery provided to them...I mailed him extra paper to write on and he didn't have to use it. You might want to ask in your first letters if your SR wants you to mail extra stationery. If so, you are allowed to.
