Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I so agree with what you said below....building character and understanding of all different walks in life! My son has been out of the Navy for a while now, but still gets comments when out and about: were you military??? The short hair is one giveaway, but it is also about military bearing and maturity!

Comment by dth2loveshismom on May 15, 2015 at 8:16am: yes, I was in the Army, 6 years, mechanic turned admin. I believe that the military is a great starting point for young adults. It builds character and understanding of all different walks of life. My dad was Navy of 22 years and we were mainly in the Norfolk/Va. Beach area until I went in the military. Fort Bragg, and Bad Krueznach Germany was where I was mainly stationed.

"Sorry I don't write enough. I never have a lot of time. But, I do love you and miss you. I finally left the nest now, I'm on the (military) branch learning how to FLY. Boot camp is not hard but it's not easy either. Everything you taught me was to prepare for boot camp. Like moving with a purpose, double-timing, and always checking behind myself. "

I would do room inspections where he would stand at parade rest while I inspected. When he did wrong, I made him do push ups and flutter kicks. LOL. I'm glad it all paid off!

That is so cool Mattsmom! I am glad they have friends too. I can imagine having a support system of friends is a blessing when you are away from your family.
