Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

ellen0502 and diannep: thank you for the advice. I'm really thinking that I might just get up super early and drive to base. Might just be easier and less stressful that way.

mrsrds2012, We drove to PIR and had no problem, but my sons TG was only 5 divisions, and 389 graduates. It was very convenient for us since he stayed in GL for school. We were able to leave right away and go get some things he wanted to have when we went back to pick him up.

mrsrds:  There are pros and cons for each.  Just a matter of personal preference.  We took a shuttle....worked out great for us.  We were on the 6:30 shuttle, there at 6:40, in PIR Hall shortly after 7.  Still had a great choice of seating, although the top row (against concrete wall) and bottom row in our divisions section was full.

If you decide to drive, be sure to stay to the left on Buckley (main drag by RTC).  You will see the car line on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around there at/near the train station, heading back to RTC from the opposite way.  It is an easy left turn into RTC then....no waiting.

If you decide on the shuttle, you can go with the area ones (book time when you check into your hotel) or book with Sarge 847 212 0246 or email:  johnspadaro@att.net

Same price....$3/pp each way unless you took the airport shuttle with Sarge....then he takes you to PIR for free.

So I have read on here that it's better to take a shuttle onto the base the morning of PIR than to drive - is this correct? I'm just wondering because I rented a car for the time I'm there, and it's just me going. Any opinions?

RTC FACEBOOK FAMILY AND FRIENDS: We will be pushing back Trivia Tuesday this week to Wednesday. I know Trivia Wednesday does not sound as good as Trivia Tuesday. But, it is better than cancelling the contest for this week.
