OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

mommaTS - just saw your comment and I am excited to hear from you. I'd be happy to send you my contact info. Best wishes on your sailor's first deployment.

Ambi821 & salty momma,
I gave my copy to my nephew this weekend, he's going to make 2 copies. As soon as he's done and I can connect with him, I will contact you both for your addresses.
Hope your sailors are doing well. My sailor just left on his first deployment.
Sincerely,
MommaTS

Momma TS, I would be willing to pay for a copy also if you have one. Do you think we could still order an official one? I totally missed that opportunity the first time. Thanks

Ambi9821,
Did you ever get a copy of PIR? If not let me know, I can try to have my nephew copy ours and send it to you.
Sorry for the tardy response, haven't been on here in a long time.

Does anyone have a copy of the PIR 06/07/2013 ceremony DVD.  Ours somehow disappeared between stations, and I would like go get another copy for my son for Christmas.  If anyone can make me a copy, I would be happy to pay for it

Thank you.
