Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on May 17, 2013 at 11:45am: Don't think this was his 3rd one. It is a little early for them to be taking their final PFA. That is usually done within 7 days or so of PIR.

Comment by diannep on May 17, 2013 at 11:44am: mrsb: They participate in 3 PFAs, but have to pass the 3rd one no matter what they did on the first two. They can't do BattleStations if they don't pass this 3rd one.

Many also get other jobs and work on ship staff, there's link in the middle on this page that describes the recruit petty officer positions.Some SRs will have watch too, which takes up even more of their time. It's good because the time goes fast for them. Maybe not as fast for us moms...:))

Comment by BonnieB GA Div 214 on May 16, 2013 at 11:14pm: Thanks for the posts regarding 214 Kevsmom and mrsb :) I haven't heard from Kyle in almost 2 weeks and last time he wrote he had a double ear infection :( I was sad when I went to the mailbox today and it was empty.....thought today would be the day! AGHHH!! Only 3 more weeks ladies!! We can do this!!!

I know he is busy and has extra paperwork because of his job at BC, but I was hoping he'd send a letter. I have a 15 year old daughter who misses him so much and would love to hear from him. We knew he wouldn't write much, but we continue to run to the mailbox every Thursday! It's just a big disappointment. I appreciate the sharing of info on this website.
