~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".
The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

mrsb-Yip...my SR was the same way....two letters, two missed phones calls and talked twice the whole 9 weeks until after BS21...then I think he made up for it.....)) Many have watch or work on ship staff and just don't have the time to write or call, he said he was busy...:)) I saved the missed phone messages and replayed them any time I needed to hear his voice...oh, don't tell my hubby but the messages are still on the answering machine...
Hooyah BeachBunny!! only 28 more days to go!! Some days are easier than others. I would be really, really happy if I get another letter!! Only two since he left and they both came on the same day. Naturally I carry them with me wherever I go!
Hummm...a Mom's guest, not a true date or division number...I think you're fine! diannep will let you know if you need to delete...love the back half of boot camp, all the planning, researching where to go, waiting for the I'm a sailor call, packing and heading to Great Lakes......enjoy each day!!
BeachBunny, should I delete my comment?
Oh...no the SRs may not call you with the date, some do share . But there is a keeper of the dates on here that will let you know when it gets closer! Don't tell anyone, it's a secret! Don't post on here if you know the date! After BS21 your sailor will be able to call you every day, that's when we made most his plans for PIR weekend...I didn't hear from my son for 5 weeks, then he called me every day once or twice after BS21....and in A school he calls or text most days!
My son called me last wednesday and said he wouldn't be able to call until May 28th-I'm thinking that would be their BS date? Or I guess it would be the night of the 27th?
Good morn ladies....when I was there a couple of months ago, it was really cold for this CA girl. Gurnee Mills Mall was the place for us....just about any restaurant you could think of is there, stores to shop(some we don't have here, Manards), we caught a movie and it was warm being inside....There's 6 flags near by for any roller coaster fans(me)....Some sailors are really tired because they just finished BS21 and others are ready to go because they finished BS21 the week before. After you have your BS date that may help you in planning the PIR celebration afternoon and remember to ask your new sailor what they want to do.....my sailor's first thing he wanted was to listen to music and eat lunch at a drive-in, diners and dive(triple D) place found "the Shanty" just up the highway...:)
no call yet, but i got a letter, so need to get a call soon. missing my SR.....:-(
