OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

igmar:  I believe that is only for A School.  I know that they can't use these on their birthdays---no birthday celebrations at bootcamp!.  Probably what you read was for GL A School.

Sorry if this is a duplicate question.  I thought I saw something on this before but now cannot find it....I thought I saw that you could send the SR gift cards for KFC, Taco Bell etc for their birthdays.  Can the recruits use these?  or is that just for those in A School at GL?

This is a struggle for a lot of us.  I find myself getting teary quite often during the day, especially if I really think about him too much.  I know this was his choice and I'm very proud of him but I sure do miss his smiling face!  And I agree with your part about not being able to fix their being sick-that's what moms are supposed to do!!  But, only 5 weeks to go and we'll all be smiling again-especially them!!!

We actually moved at Christmas from what I had been home for 11 years and my SR didnt move with us due to him leaving in April. I thought leaving him then was hard but the last few days I have really struggled. I guess just knowing he is really sick and I can't fix it. And I am not the overprotective mom trust me I am an ER nurse my kids all say they have to be bleeding for me to be concerned :) but I just feel bad for him and I have heard everything second hand.. Just having a tough time the few days but if he can endure it so can I

jaime30024, I have tears in my eyes!  Our kids aren't going to be kids anymore, but responsible, mature adults.  I'm so happy you got to spend so much time with her-I'm sure she enjoyed it as much as you.  Your daughter sounds very responsible already, going through her things and all.  I tried to get my son to do that but I think that he didn't do it to maybe prolong leaving?  I don't know.  Who knows!  We'll all get through this!!!  We are strong, remember?  And we all raised wonderful kids!!

My daughter and I packed her room up together too I had a hard time going in there when she left but I too am looking forward to seeing her in June it will all be worth it. It is really a heart breaking thing to do going thru their things my daughter was being slow and making me do most of the work so I was yelling and crying at the same time then we ended up laughing and rolling on the floor good memories really

Hey all - my SR is my only child and for probably 15 years it was just me and her.  So needless to say it is very quiet here.  I work from home so the last year and 1/2 that she was in school I was able to be home when she got home and up when she got up.  She has worked 3rd shift which meant she would hang out sometimes in the morning with me while I worked or sometimes get up in the afternoon and we would hang out...still having that mom and daughter time.  I really miss her and it is hard.  I am very thankful that she went through all of her things before she left.  Boxing up what she wanted to keep, donating or selling what she didn't want to keep.  I think it would have been very hard for me to do that and I appreciate that she did it herself.  It is an empty nest now and a quiet house, but cannot wait to see her march in with those dress whites on and see the woman that she has become in 2 months time.
