Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on April 24, 2013 at 10:41pm: For those wanting Residence, book quickly. Their 2 bdrm 2 bth suites go quickly. They also have studios. Be sure to ask for the Navy Graduation rate and call the hotel directly.

Comment by diannep on April 24, 2013 at 10:34pm: Yep, dogwatcher. I would suggest you do as posty has done and book through Monday if possible. The GL A School sailors get daytime liberty throughout the weekend. Usually about 12-14 hours a day. Lots of visit time!

AJsMom: In the "integrated divisions" (male/female), they train together but have separate barracks. Good idea, right???? :-)

Comment by posty7689 on April 24, 2013 at 10:28pm: Hi dogwatcher! My bf is in the same division. We are flying out monday since they get liberty all day sunday. Have you made your hotel reservations? I know of two families that will be at the residence inn that have SRs in the 813 div

I believe the next part they go to is called pre-buds

Comment by Kevsmom93 on April 24, 2013 at 10:00pm: Hello everyone: Ship 03/DIV 214 We received our first letter(s) from our SR (by the way we're in No.Ca.). He has so much to write about and says nothing is easy but they are learning to work together as a team. He misses his family so much. He couldn't mention it enough how important it is to receive letters, which at the time his was written his DIV had not received any. My husband and I have both mailed several. I know one of his Grandma's wrote too, that should make him happy :-) I hope everyone receives letters soon, I can't tell you how awesome it is!

Comment by mrsb on April 24, 2013 at 9:39pm: Woohoo!!! I got two letters from my recruit today!!! So happy!! He sounded so good, so positive, said there is some kind of "list" some of the recruits are on but promised he wouldn't be on it! :) One was written last Sunday and the first was on April 16th, our wedding anniversary. I don't think he really realized it but what a nice gift!! I miss him so!

Suzyqnj2002, my husband grew up in central New Jersey, not far from Point Pleasant.
