~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

I got my call today! He was able to talk for 45 min!! I was stoked! I am a girlfriend of an SR in ship 04 div 813. He said everyone in div 813 except one were SO's.  I would love to talk to other girlfriends/wives in div 813.  I have a friend about 30 minutes away from me whose boyfriend is also in div 813 and we talk every day. It really helps get each other through this part of our SR's journey.

Janet & sweetnavymom: Your call will absolutely come! I look forward to reading your message when you share the happy news :-) Also, one mom told me after her call she left her cell phone in another room, her SR called back because he found out he had some more time to talk and she missed it! Mine called on our home phone, so it could be either one (cell or home) have them both handy!

That was me who left the grocery store (or I did that too). :) Yep, when I left, those behind me were not too happy. LOL

I got a homesick phone call today. It was really rough but he seemed to be better by the time he hung up.

Kevsmom93:  I'm so jealous!  My son arrived on 4/11 and have not yet received the form letter or a phone call.  I'm glad you got to speak to your SR and thanks for sharing that information.

was so excited to get a call! I am so glad that the other day I was reading through posts somewhere and a mom was saying how she had to leave mid checkout on her groceries because she got a call from an 847 number. So when I saw that same area code I picked it up right away, I never answer numbers I don't know and I am so glad because it was a great surprise to get a call from my boyfriend! Now just a couple of more weeks and lots of letters! He is on Ship 04 DIv 813 and I am so glad I found this group because I would love to meet some other girlfriends/wives!

For those who received "homesick SR" calls....hang in there.  This is still very early for them.  So many emotions, lots of yelling going on, demands on them, it can be hard.  But it does get better!  You will see the "change" in them by the more positive tone in the letters/calls after they have been there about 5 weeks or so (usually during training week 4, which is about bootcamp week 5).  So keep encouraging, no matter what they say!  Remind them that A School is nothing like bootcamp.  It is more like a college situation.  They can get through 8 weeks of this!  And they will!

That is wonderful news ProudMomToKyle !  I've put my daughter on high alert.  Still no box or form letter but we're always hopeful that we'll hear from our SR soon.  Here's to hearing from our children soon.
