N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Proudmama I am sure ours is on its way. They might be having chow now so I guess we will have to wait. Maybe our boys are together :)

My heart is racing with excitement and pride!  We just heard from our SR!  He was assigned Master at Arms for his Division!  Words can not express how proud I am right now.  I‘m going to wear my Navy Mom t-shirt all weekend for all to see.

A special thanks to my ex's wife for calling me right after they heard from our SR. Even though I did not hear his voice with my ears, I hear it in my heart.  Praying that next call is to Mom.

Also on Phone Calls.

I posted this early on but will do so again, some of you may receive a call for additional SECURITY CLEARANCE info. Basically a couple of more references if your SR has a rating that Secret or Top Secret clearance.

...uh, okay...I just checked and no I didn't post it yet! Must have been the GROUP behind you...I'm losing my mind Confusion

Here is the post:

SECURITY CLEARANCE CALLS:

There is the possibility of you receiving a phone call from your SR (Seaman Recruit) during the first one to two weeks (sometimes later as well) after their arrival for Security Clearance info. I received mine one week after my son arrived at RTC. Had no idea it would come that fast. I'd only really been on the site for a week or two, so I had NOTHING ready! (My son asked for two more names along with their phone number and address. Sometimes you may be asked to fax the info but he was told to get it from me right then.).So... if your Recruit has a rating that requires security clearance information...800 Divisions, IT's, CTI's CTT's Nukes, AT's (the list goes on!), anyone that handles confidential info...have a list of references by the phone.

This is a short business call and is monitored. No time for chit chat...but once in a great while the person monitoring the call allows a few extra minutes.

The area code for GL is "847". My security clearance call, the caller ID said "US GOVERNMENT". We have also had "PAY PHONE" reported and then area codes for the surrounding areas...so answer all...and just get rid of those telemarketers!

Also, if you receive a call from your SR (at any time...not just the Security Call) and miss it...please do not call the number back. Your SR could get in trouble.

vhvirgo - What is your SR's rating that he enlisted with? Rating is their Occupational Specialty=job. (The term Rate =rank. Enlisted Sailors have rate and Officers have rank) We might be able to determine the A school for you.

Well...looks like early calls for some Folks! smiley on phone photo: phone.gif

The SRs are making calls!! My DIL just got off the phone with him and he sounds good! I don't mind living vicariously through my DIL :)

don't worry sweeetnavymom, you'll get a call!  My son called back again after we hung up but I missed it!  We were feeding the dogs and I missed the call!!!  That will teach me to leave my dumb phone upstairs!!

I havent had a call yet. I pray I get it soon. I love all your comments. I miss my son soo very much. Happy for all of you who got a call.

Comment by mrsb on April 20, 2013 at 10:33am

This must be the day for phone calls from our SRs as I got one this morning as well!!!  He sounded so good, very happy.  He said he passed the swim test; he hasn't swam in a long time but he had to do all of that in Scouts, so that helped.  He only got yelled at once for having a boot lace out of place-won't be doing that again!  All in all it's going to be a very good day, now that I got to talk to him!  :)
