~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Thank you FTLW!  That is just what I was looking for.  : )

Your SRs will have the opportunity to change and add to their list (still no more than allowed) sometime in the last two weeks of BC. Make sure you let them know who will be coming and who you would like to have on the guest list. Remind them a couple of times as is gets closer to PIR, they may forget and not have the time to look through all your letters to find the names. :)

The INTENDED GUEST list on your Form Letter and the actual ACCESS LIST for PIR.

Your SR (Seaman Recruit) will write in the names on the Form Letter. Don't be alarmed if it only says Dad, Mom etc. This is an intended list to let you know who they want to come to PIR. About 7-10 days before PIR the Recruits will submit a final guest list for the main Access list to Security for PIR.

So, if there are changes etc and or your recruit needs the correct names matching the ID's for PIR you have time to right them.

Please see this Discussion (direct clickable link below) for more info (also check the replies by lemonelephant on it as she has added some good info about names):

The Form Letter Intended Guest List / The Access List for Graduatio...

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on April 18, 2013 at 6:45pm

Keep your Form Letters in a Safe Place.

It has a lot of info in it and info from your SR about their Address, PIR date, Intended Guest list (3 or 4 depending on the size of the TG - Training Group), and the Password for the Vehicle gate Pass that will be available to print up 11 days before PIR.

The VGP is used when you want to drive a vehicle onto RTC. RTC is a closed case and DOD stickers from other bases will not work, All entering with a vehicle must have a gate pass.

**I know this is early on and no bad juju...but in the event that your SR should have a change in their status and their PIR date is pushed back...keep the original Form Letter. You will not be issued a new one and you will need the Password info in order to get new info for your recruit. This is how RTC will know you are legit when calling for info. Your SR's are responsible for filling out the Form Letter and the info within it.

We just rec'd our form letter.  Our son put down a family member on his intended guest list that we know is not going to go to PIR and would like him to change his list of intended guests.  Is this allowed?  I know that only he can do this and we would have to communicate by mail to him. but am wondering if a change is allowed and how soon he would have to do it.

I so can't wait to get home and check my mailbox; I hope the form letter is there today. Hope, hope, hope!

Hello everyone,

Looking forward to giving and getting support as we start this journey together.

My son is the first to leave the nest.  Somedays are easier than others. I just remind myself how proud I am of him.

Hang in there ladies!!!!
