~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Oh I'm nervous about those seats at PIR cause of having back surgery four weeks ago I can't sit for long times and then those hard seats I hope they don't mind you walking or standing while you wait for the ceremony to start didn't want to bring my walker with the seat or a wheelchair but it does sound like a lot of walking standing and sitting I don't know what I should do .can you bring a butt cushion

Happy Memorial Day...We always understood the meaning of this day with my Father's and Grandfather's service in the Navy. Now it takes on a new understanding knowing that my son is one of the many who sacrifice so much to serve his country. Thank you Veterans and Active Duty for my freedom and the priviliges that the US provides from their service.

I think teeny meant Sarge's MeetandGreet.  If you get to PIR early, you can get the top bleacher seats where you lean against the wall, by the way!

kevsmom:  They are issued a backpack, seabag and garment bag (uniforms).  Seabag and garment bag are checked luggage. It is always nice if what you give them re: personal items will fit in this existing luggage so they don't have to lug more around.  So keep that in mind!

Yes, PIR Hall can get chilly in the summer with the a/c so have a light jacket/sweater!

Kimberly:  Yes, parents can give the coins.  Hoping that Craig will drop in with more info on the coins....that is his baby!

Happy Memorial Day and Good Morning!

When can we expect the "I'm a sailor" call. And are they only allowed to call on person (like the "I'm here" call)?  I'm getting more excited and anxious the closer we get!!

Does anyone know if they give our SR the Ship 12 USS Triton challenge coin?  If not does anyone where I can get one to give our son.  Or is it a no-no for the parents to give that gift.  I read the above story and it didn't say we couldn't give it to him.  We have the RTC Challenge coin for him.

Stages meet and greet is casual dress.   it's not cold in the pir hall.  It's very comfortable but it butt will be sore. From sitting.  It's stands so no back.   I am so excited for you guys.  I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it.

Good Morning All,   My SR is also going to Texas for "A" school.

ProudNavyMom, my SR is going to TX for A school and I told him the weather is waaaay different from Pittsburgh! He told me he has friends in the division from TX and they all told him how awesome TX is, so he's pretty excited to go!

ambi9821: That's a good question and I've been curious about that too, what's it like in that giant hall for PIR? If I had to guess I bet it's kind of cool especially since we arrive in the morning.

Comment by Kevsmom93 on May 27, 2013 at 1:30am

lemonelephant,or diannep or beachbunny: Let's say it all works out and we get to meet our SR at the airport before he goes to A-school. We would like to make sure he gets his laptop and cell phone. According to what I've read it is recommended to take all valuables as a carry-on. Is there anything else I need to know? Is there any rule that I need to know about? Another concern is it sounds like they're carrying a boat-load of items ;-) Is it even convenient to give them one more thing to carry at the airport?
