Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on May 24, 2013 at 10:25am: Good morning everyone and Thanks so much :) That Copperhead was no match for our Poochie :) My Mom is also doing better after her fall. My Sailor and I are going to split the cost and get life alert for her. We were lucky she had the cordless phone in her pocket when she fell so she was able to call me for help. And my son was in her area just leaving another call (first responder) so he was able to get to her pretty quickly. She looks much worse than she feels because she is on coumadin and bruises so badly :( But she will be fine. It has been a crazy week.

My SR loved all the live-fire range training had an absolute blast and received Sharpshooter ribbon. Congrats to all our SR's and all their hard work we're proud mommas!! Two from division 214 received Expert, any of you mom's want braggin rights let us know, that's awesome!!

Comment by ProudNavyMom#1 on May 23, 2013 at 10:41pm: I called my SRs girlfriend to coordinate flights and arrival time on 67 and she had more info than I did! :-) she does write him more often that I do. I have a date for BS. Lets say he will be rested by the time PIR comes around! :-)
